| My Bulldogs v Eels 2009 match report - Run Noddy Run |
Well, that was the best game of football I've seen in a long long time, but only because I'm a Bulldogs supporter.
I was looking forward to this season as soon as I heard the Bulldogs had signed Josh Morris, because finally they would have some long range strike power.
After 8 minutes of the game Morris had already scored 2 tries and the Bulldogs were looking unstoppable.
But after Morris scored his 2nd I noticed him limping, "This looks bad" I thought, "I hope it's not serious". Then my worst fears were confirmed as Morris left the field with a knee injury. "Oh no!" I thought, "There goes our long range strike power".
But I couldn't have been more wrong, as up stepped Brett "Noddy" Kimmorley with a brilliant length of the field solo try late in the 2nd half to seal the match and send me into fits of laughter, and no doubt cause a certain Parramatta supporter to fling her remote control at the tv in disgust.
I had no idea his little legs could move so fast, as he scythed through the non-existent defence and used his blinding speed to gallop away un-touched to score the matchwinner, and prove that the Bulldogs still have "Long Range Strike Power" in abundance with or without Morris.
(Critics would argue that he nearly blew a 60 metre headstart and is probably the slowest half-back ever, but I don't care, Kimmorley is a genius and has to be a shoo-in for the Australian number 7 position on current form). |
