Sea Eagles announce bulk signings

July 30, 2007
THE good times are certainly rolling on Sydney's northern peninsula with Manly announcing the retention of four key players as well as the acquisition of Newcastle Knights prop Josh Perry.

Still basking in the glory of Sunday's 32-24 win over Parramatta Eels, the Sea Eagles revealed former New South Wales prop Perry would join the club next year on a three-year deal.

He will add to a crowded front-row rotation with City Origin prop Jason King (three years), Glenn Hall (two years) and Adam Cuthbertson (two years) today announcing they would be extending their stay with the club.

Earlier this year the Sea Eagles tied up Australia front rower Brent Kite on a new four-year contract, the Sea Eagles to boast one of the most impressive and deepest engine rooms in the NRL.

The good news didn't end there either with New Zealand centre Steve Matai confirming he will remain in maroon and white until the end of the 2010 season.

Sydney Roosters hooker Heath L'Estrange will join the club on a two-year deal in 2008, his arrival sure to soften the impact of Michael Monaghan's departure to the English Super League at the end of the season.

"The signings will ensure the Sea Eagles continue the path of recent seasons as one of the top teams in the NRL," Manly chief executive Grant Meyer said.

"Players are eager to play in the maroon and white again which is a tribute to the coaching staff."

Sunday's win over the Eels – their first at Parramatta Stadium in 10 years – moved the Sea eagles to within two points of league leader Melbourne with five rounds of the regular season remaining.
