Michael Hagan Post Match Media Conference - Round 2211 August 2007
Q) WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE REFEREEING MICHAEL?
A) I won't go down that track too far. I'd rather talk about the performance of my team and the game in general. I'm more concerned about our performance than his. Our attitude tonight was down a touch and full credit to Cronulla for the way they played - they hung in and deserved to win.
Q) DID YOU FEEL YOU ONLY REALLY GOT INTO THE GAME WHEN TIMANA PULLED OFF THAT BIG HIT?
A) It was probably a little bit too late at that point. We were still good enough to get back on level terms after being down by 10 or 12 points. We've been through that in the last few weeks but we were not good enough to finish it off when we drew level. We didn't take the couple of chances we had.
Q) WHAT DO YOU PUT DOWN THE BAD ATTITUDE TO?
A) I'm not so sure. We've been playing pretty good footy for a month and we are mindful of giving the players the opportunity to recover and getting themselves thinking about the next game they play. I still think we have a lot to look forward. I am concerned with the performance but the winning and losing is not as critical because we have a lot of footy to play.
Q) WHO WERE YOUR BEST TONIGHT?
A) I thought Mark Riddell was great and his tries in the second half got us back into the game. Our guys in the middle worked hard all night. The penalty count was very high and there were a lot of infringements around the ruck and it was no secret how Cronulla were going to come at us - to slow us down. That was an obvious strategy and they persevered with it and it came off in the end. As I said, full credit to them - they have been playing well without winning.
Q) I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY YOUR RUN HOME BUT YOU HAVE TO BE READY FOR GAMES SUCH AS TONIGHT - HOW DO YOU DO THAT?
A) Absolutely. We spoke about the last month and this month is just as critical. It is challenging with Cronulla, Melbourne, St George and Brisbane. We are going to be challenged to see where we are at and that is a great test for us in Melbourne on Friday night.
Q) IS EVERYONE OK?
A) Yes - we will have Nathan Hindmarsh back next week and Cayless, Cordoba and Wagon will have had a run under their belt.
