Michael Hagan Post Match Media Conference - Round 1922 July 2007Q) MICHAEL ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE? A) I think we are happy enough to come here and win. There were some good things in our performance and I partucularly liked our first half. I didn't think we were going to die wondering in the second half about how they would come back at us. They played very well in the second half - very spirited and as you would expect from a team playing at home, played with a point to prove. Q) WITH SO MANY YOUNG GUYS IN THE SIDE ARE THEY THE SORT OF GAMES THAT BUILD CHARACTER FOR LATER? A) I think we are in a tough part of the year and we had to do thngs tough. We had to play well and we did. Our halves are doing a great job directing the team and our middle third forwards did a great job against one of the best packs in the comp. Joel Reddy did a great job coming into the side at late notice when we lost Eric and when you consider Joel played a full Premier League game on Saturday he did a great job. He hasn't let us down in any games. We are getting a fair bit out of what we are doing - the boys are hanging in there which is all you can ask. Q) WAYNE BENNETT HAS ACCUSSED JARRYD HAYNE OF LYING DOWN IN THE TACKLE IN THE SECOND HALF - WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? A) I have not had a good enough look at it to be honest but if you are hit by Sam Thaiday you are entitled to stay down I think. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a little shaken given the impact of the run. I think the referee did a good job - he considered the welfare of the player. He saw a collision to the head and that's what I thought I saw too. Q) PETERO SAID HE THOUGHT IT WAS A PLOY? A) That is somethng that happenned in the game but I don't agree. He got back to the line ultimately. Q) IS IT SOMETHING THAT YOU TALK ABOUT? A) It has never been discussed in my time at Parramatta. Q) WOULD YOU BE DISAPPOINTED IF A PLAYER TOOK A DIVE? A) I think it is hard to say with any confidence about players etc but I honestly do not believe it is in Jarryd's nature. Q) THERE WERE SOME TERRIFFIC PLAYS FROM YOUR FORWARDS? A) That seems to have been forgotten a little bit. There was some good skill with how we played and our support of the football. Timmy Smithy had some really nice touches. We didn't panic when we made some half breaks - Timmy and Finchy were great in that regard. Nathan Hindmarsh was outstanding and Ian Hindmarsh was not too far behind. Q) THEY WERE CAMPED ON YOUR LINE FOR MOST OF THE SECOND HALF? A) And some of the first half too. A questionable call on a forward pass was about our only error in the first half I think and a few penalties but you expect that when you are on the road. They got a few six to go calls which puts the pressure on a bit too.
