Michael Hagan Post Match Media Conference - Round 1417 June 2007
Q) A TOUGH AFTERNOONS WORK?
A) It was tougher for the players than it was for me. We always expected that against Saints - they are enthusiastic and play well as a team and I think their coach will be very proud of their effort today.
Q) YOU MUST BE HAPPY WITH THE SECOND HALF?
A) Yes I am. There was not much in the game at half time and I think we did things pretty well in the second half and had a bit of quality in our play. I thought our bench turned things around for us when they came on.
Q) WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF HINDMARSH?
A) It was a tremendous effort for Nathan to play as he did in his 200th game for the Club especially after backing up from Origin. Both the physical and mental back up is hard and the build up to this Origin was as intense as I can remember and took its toll on some players. It is a credit to the way he has backed up for his Club and he was always around when there was a bit of dangerous play being provided by St George. That is what he has built his career on and he had some good carries with the ball as well. To consider leaving someone like Nathan out of the Origin, well I can't comprehend that - I think players like Nathan and Danny Buderus actually kept NSW in the game the other night and kept QLD down to 10 points.
Q) WERE MARK RIDDELL'S CHARGES IN THE SECOND HALF ONE OF THE TURNING POINTS OF THE MATCH?
A) They certainly came at an important time and he has done that on a few occasions for us this year. I thought Fui as well did the same thing - they came on at about the same time and offered some real impact. Nathan finished the game great as did Nathan Cayless who has been great for us this year and our halves controlled the game well enough for us to be there at the end and kick clear. Eric was again really good and Jarryd Hayne has really come of age as a young player to back up from Origin as well as he has done.
Q) I SUPPOSE YOU WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE GONE TO THE VIDEO REFEREE FOR THE CORDOBA NO TRY?
A) It was probably a line ball call and I don't know that it would have been awarded. There were a few close calls in the game. The try that Nathan stopped on the line could have gone either way.
Q) IT WAS A BIG TURNAROUND FROM LAST WEEK - WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
A) I just think that we are in a tough part of the season at the moment and all the teams are going through it. To win today is good after last week's loss. We have another big next week before a week off. I want to see us turn up next week with the same attitude and work hard and I'm sure we can recapture that good form in the lead up to the semis.

That was a tough game against the Saints but it was good Parra won 20-12. Also congratulations to Nathan Hindmarsh for playing in his 200th game. It would have been great to see him score a try which he came so close to scoring one. It was also a wonderful gesture by the team after the game that they formed a guard of honour for Hindy as he was heading into the changerooms.
Good onya boys im so proud to be a Parramatta supporter.
