DALLY Messenger reputedly kicked goals from 60m out on four occasions. Yesterday, Jarryd Hayne and Krisnan Inu beat him.

Essendon players looked on in awe as the Parramatta duo put Sherrins on kicking tees and booted them 65m, between the posts, at a training session in Melbourne.

OK, there was no crossbar and Inu told Eels strength and conditioning coach Hayden Knowles the Aussie rules balls were much lighter than a Steeden. But most of the Bombers' attempts fell significantly short of the woodwork.

"The Essendon guys were blown away by how powerful our fellas are," Knowles said.

Eels coach Michael Hagan said he was hoping Inu would sign an extended contract with club by the second week of January.
