Eagle Rose lucky to be alive

MANLY prop George Rose has vowed to play this Sunday despite walking away from a horror car accident yesterday, which wrote off his Mitsubishi Magna.
"I'm lucky to be alive. It's a miracle I got out of there," Rose said last night.
Rose, 24, was on his way to Manly training, just 600m from the Narrabeen Sports Academy on the Wakehurst Parkway, when his car collided with a Jeep Cheroke.
The impact crushed Rose's passenger side, the door caving in and being thrust into Rose's ribs.
"I thought to myself how lucky I was to walk away," Rose said. "It really scared the life out of me.
"But I'll be right. I want to play this weekend (against the Sydney Roosters at Aussie Stadium on Sunday).
"I will have a couple of days rest and then be back to play."
Rose was taken to Mona Vale Hospital but released late yesterday. X-rays cleared the forward of any serious injury but the former Rooster has had stitching to hand and arm lacerations.
He also has extensive bruising and stiffness. Manly sent club doctor Paul Bloomfield and physiotherapist Andre Richenbach to be bedside with Rose in hospital.
"I can't really remember too much about it," Rose said.
"My brakes locked up and I ended up on the other side of the road.
"All I can remember was a Jeep Cheroke coming at me.
"I just know I'm very lucky. I've had a look at my car and it's a write-off.
"It was scary seeing how close the passenger door came to mangling me. It was crushed in."
Rose was last night resting at his inner-city home. Manly chief executive Grant Mayer praised Rose's courage for being keen to play against the Roosters.
"It was a serious accident," Mayer said.
"Thankfully George is OK and no one else was injured in the accident.
"It is obviously a concern and George has shown plenty of courage to want to play this weekend."
Rose was named on the interchange bench when coach Des Hasler released his side to play the winless Roosters.
Hasler has, however, named Adam Cuthbertson on a five-man bench to cover for the possible loss of Rose.
Injured halfback Matt Orford and back-rower Steve Menzies have not been named.
Hasler has kept Michael Monaghan at halfback, Travis Burns at five-eighth, Jamie Lyon at centre and young Matt Ballin at hooker.
Ballin was brilliant in his first-grade debut last Saturday night at Leichhardt Oval.
Injured centre Steve Matai remains sidelined for another three to four weeks.

I was shocked to read the story this morning in the Manly Sea Eagles website. I didn't hear anything about it on the News the main thing is Rose and the other person/s in the second car are all ok.
It could of been alot worse thank god it wasn't, and for Rose wanting to play this weekend after being in an accident like that says a lot about the guy. Maybe it's his way of dealing with it I guess only time will tell.
Lets hope if he does end up playing that he takes it out on the Roosters

I'll never forget that rampaging try he scored against them in 2006.
