EX-KIWI international David Vaealiki has an opportunity to revive his NRL career after signing with Manly for the 2008 season.

Vaealiki joined the Sea Eagles from English Super League giants Wigan on a one year incentive-based deal.

The former Parramatta and New Zealand back was being heavily pursued by a number of clubs before settling with the 2007 grand finalists.

The 27-year-old completed his first training session with his new teammates at the Sydney Sports Academy in Narrabeen yesterday.

``He's a class player with a lot of experience,'' Manly second-rower Anthony Watmough said of his new mate yesterday.

``He's played for his country and he'll definitely add something to our team.''

It is believed both the Wests Tigers and the Eels were interested in Vaealiki who partnered Jamie Lyon in the centres for Parramatta in the 2001 Grand Final.

English Super League club Harlequins were also in the hunt for the 98kg back, along with French Rugby Union Club Albi.

Albi were very close to signing Vaealiki before the deal fell through allowing the Sea Eagles to swoop.

Manly boss Grant Mayer said Vaealiki is not a spent force and could push his way into the Sea Eagles top squad next year.

``He is an unbelievably experienced player who can slot into a number of roles for us,'' Mayer said. ``His versatility will come in handy come State of Origin time.

``He's still playing some great footy and he will do the job very nicely for us.''

Vaealiki joined Wigan from Parramatta at the end of 2004 for a reported $1.5million over three seasons.

His stint in England was punctuated by injury and a dip in the form which saw him represent New Zealand seven times from 2000 to 2003. Vaealiki made his NRL debut for Parramatta in 1999, playing 93 games over six seasons.

I Don't know much about David Vaealiki, but it's looking good for the Eagles for next year. With the club adding some good players to their ranks for season 2008 and beyond.
