SOUTH Sydney have appointed New Zealand internationals Roy Asotasi and David Kidwell as their co-captains.

Coach Jason Taylor's decision follows the departure of 2007 co-skipper Peter Cusack to Hull.

``If Peter had still been here, I would would have had a bit of a dilema,'' Taylor said last night.

Back-rower Kidwell missed the back end of last season with a serious knee injury suffered when he tripped over his baby daughter.

``Roy would be the first to admit he is still easing himself into the captaincy role,'' Taylor continued.
``But David is a seasoned leader. What he did for us in the early part of last season, I didn't really appreciate until he was gone.

``Neither of them had trained with us until last week so making an announcement before then wasn't the right way to go.''
